The Jack Russell

Description: The Jack Russell Terrier or Parson Jack Russell Terrier is a small, agile, brave terrier, who is good at hunting small animals like foxes and raccoons.  Like other terriers he may bore easily and is capable of inventing his own entertainment.  He is a tough little dog who is clean and a convenient size for a companion.

12 - 14  inches
Weight: 13 - 17 lbs.

Colors: White with black, tan or lemon or solid white.
Coat: Smooth or rough and broken.

Temperament: Alert, lively, bold.
With Children: Yes, especially active children.
With Pets:  Will chase anything small that moves they also may be scrappy with other dogs.

Watch-dog:   High
Guard-dog: Low

Activity: High
Living Environment: Will do well in an apartment if exercised or a house with a fenced backyard.

Life-Span: 13 - 15 Years
Litter size: 4 - 8

Country of origin: Great Britain

History: In 1819 a student by the name of Jack Russell came across a terrier who he developed into the Jack Russell Terrier over the course of sixty years by crossing distinctive strains of fox terriers.  Even though there are many variations of the Jack Russell Terrier the British Kennel Club in 1990 only recognized the Parson Jack Russell Terrier.
